Strolling through Merano's arcades in the old town you will find many shops and boutiques. However, if you are looking for an alternative shopping experience, take a look at the Merano Friday Market.

Every Friday between 8 am and 1 pm you can join in the hustle and bustle of the market stalls on Piazza Prader, Via Mainardo and Via Andreas Hofer. There is something for everyone at this special market with Italian flair: clothing, shoes & leather goods, fruit & vegetables, various culinary delicacies, specialties from South Tyrol and much more.

A special feature of this Merano market is the meeting of different cultures. The local vendor of Speck from the region can be found right next to the southern Italian clothing market stall. A visit is worthwile, especially if you have a penchant for "haggling" and can thus find a bargain or two. After your shopping, we suggest you stop for a bite to eat at one of the many food stalls.
