The Merano Market

Open every Saturday from March to October from 9 am to 1 pm. The Merano Market takes place in the pedestrian zone in Freiheitsstraße Road. The new attraction in the heart of the old town of the Passer town, is a successful combination of agriculture, handcrafts, tourism and local city life.

The new Merano Market, small but fine, seems like a journey through time. The 22 stands of the market may only sell true "Made in South Tyrol" products, hence, only products that have been exclusively grown or produced in South Tyrol. This makes the genuine Merano Market a beautiful platform for South Tyrolean producers and direct sellers of agricultural products, but also for producers of traditional and rural handcrafts. In addition to offering farmers' specialties and handcrafts, the market stands are a true eye catcher too.

Designer Martino Gamper, inhabitant of Merano, designed the stands as a homage to the century-old market tradition in Merano and to traditional handcrafts in South Tyrol. The offer on the market is varied, and the flow of nature and agriculture is also mirrored on the market. In addition to the 14 "fixed" stands, there is also space for eight rotating stands. Good to know: The quality of the "Made in South Tyrol" goods offered has to adhere to strict criteria, and the stands are assigned based on the decisions of an evaluation commission.
