The spa town Merano with one of the most beautiful racecourses in Europe invites to the weekly Merano horse racing from mid-April until the beginning of October.
The racecourse is regarded as a green jewel and is the venue for the most important horses races of the Italian racing season including the most exciting races ever. We are talking about unofficial Merano landmark, the Merano racecourse.
Already at the end of the 19th century the first horse race was held to celebrate the aristocratic spa guests and finally introduced into the thirties with a new construction to initiate the "modern era".
From now on the Merano horse racing become tradition and so they take place every week from mid-April to October at the Merano racecourse. One of the highlights is the Grand Prix of Merano, a highly doped steeplechase in September, which is one of the oldest races in this hippodrome. The first time, it has been organized on the occasion of the opening ceremony on October 2nd, 1935.
